Sweet Sixteen Drawing

Being from Nashville, basketball has not been that big of a deal. Tennessee is definitely more of a football state! However, today I got the opportunity to go watch the Sweet Sixteen bracket drawing at WKYT's studio. It was such a big production that got me really excited for the tournament. I got to see the drawing first hand from behind the scenes. I also got to meet a lot of really interesting and really important people, including Commissioner Brigid DeVries. I really didn't know what to expect going into it, but I quickly learned it was much more professional than I would have thought. I was almost picturing drawing numbers out of a hat! Instead they had what looked like a lotto machine spitting out balls with the region numbers on them. There were also sports writers from the Louisville Courier-Journal and the Lexington Herald-Leader who were analyzing the brackets. Everyone kept saying that it was a great drawing and it seemed to be a very fair match-up across the board. Someone even said that it was the best drawing he had ever seen. All I know is that I continue to be more and more impressed with Kentucky basketball and therefore get more excited about March and the Sweet Sixteen tournament by the minute!
