Why UK?
Most people ask me why I came to Kentucky for school when I live in Tennessee. There are several reasons I chose UK over UT. The first reason is that I have really disliked UT my whole life. Another reason is that almost my entire graduating class from high school went to UT and I wanted to branch out. Also the colors blue and white are way more attractive than bright orange and white! However, one of the main reasons I chose UK was because of the cheerleading program. UK's cheerleaders, in 2002 when I graduated, had won 8 national titles in a row and 12 total. I wanted to be a part of that program as well as get to cheer in Rupp Arena for one of the best college basketball programs in the nation.
So basically that is why I chose the University of Kentucky, but getting there was a different story. The frist time I remember seeing the UK cheerleaders was at a cheerleading competition my freshman year of high school and that is where the dream began. The rest of my high school career was dedicated to becoming good enough to be on that squad. I cheered for my high school football and basketball teams, as well as on an all-star competitive cheerleading squad. On top of all this I was going into the gym on my free time to work on my own and with my coaches on tumbling and coed stunting. It was a lot of hard work but it eventually all paid off!
